A complete look at ancient tomb excavations(2025 Summer Mini Exhibition Kyoto Prefectural Archaeological Research Center, Public Interest Foundation, 158th Archaeological Seminar)

Saturday, July 12 – Monday/Holiday, August 11

Excavations of ancient tombs have been carried out in the Yamashiro region for a long time, and the results of these excavations have been used to actively conduct research on the Kofun period.
The Yamashiro Local History Museum has a large collection of grave goods and haniwa clay figures unearthed during these excavations.
To coincide with the 158th Buried Cultural Properties Seminar being held at the museum by the Kyoto Prefectural Buried Cultural Properties Research Center (Public Interest Foundation), we will be bringing together all of the Kofun period materials in our collection, including materials that are not usually on display and materials that are too fragile to be loaned out.
Please come and see the items excavated from the tombs and the grave goods from the Yamashiro region that can only be seen at our museum.
