Kyoto Wazukaso is a comfortable inn located in Wazuka Town in the Kyoto Tea Country region that is the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture. The building was renovated, and reopened as Kyoto Wazukaso in July 2016. Guests can stay overnight, or enjoy a delicious meal on a day trip (advance reservations required for both). With the wonderful concept "savor tea using all five senses," their hospitality is irresistible for tea-lovers. The main building has 2 Japanese-style rooms and 2 Western-style rooms. The annex has three rooms with a capacity of 8, 10, and 12 people, for a total of 30 guests.
The lunchtime special, Wazuka Gozen, features dishes made with tea. Experience the perfect harmony of tea and Japanese cuisine, unique to the tea-producing region. The ingredients vary depending on when you visit, but for example, you might enjoy some of these: chasoba (green tea noodles), tofu (a food with a pudding-like texture) made with matcha green tea, steamed rice with a flavor of hojicha (roasted tea), and a tempura (a deep-fried dish) of tea leaves. Enjoy a delicious meal with a view of a tea plantation right before your eyes. Wazuka Gozen is 2,980 yen (tax included), reservations required 3 days in advance.
The dinner menu offers multi-course meals featuring seasonal dishes, including tea-based dishes. You can even indulge in a bath infused with sencha (one of the most common Japanese green teas) from Wazuka, perfect for relaxation. Furthermore, the aroma of incense burners with real tea leaves adds to the experience. After breakfast, you can enjoy complimentary Wazuka’s sencha while learning about tea.
