Planning dream to trip in spring to see cherry blossom? Why not take a relaxing spring trip to Kyoto Miyama away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The region is just 50 kilomters north of Kyoto City. The most well known spot in the region is Miyama's thatched village, but there are other spots you can enjoy sakura viewing. Full bloom timing is approximately one week behind Kyoto City and they are equally stunning as most of famous sakura spots in the city.

Visiting Miyama’s Thatched Village by rental E-bike

The thatched village or Kayabuki no Sato is the most visited attraction in Miyama. Almost the whole village is composed of old thatched houses and is carefully maintained as a cultural heritage site. Why not rent an e-bike to visit the village? You may encounter the other scenery you cannnot experience if you are driving. Rice Planting Festival in Miyama’s Thatched Village

Shinto ritual to pray for rich harvest and rice planting performance by rice-planting maidens which is held on the second Sunday of May every year in the Kita Village of Miyama Town, known as the Thatched Village (kayabuki-no-sato).
After praying for abundant crops at the Hachimangu Shrine by Shinto priest, rice-planting maidens in traditional garments with sedge hats aligned in one line start the rice planting. Enjoy viewing of authentic rural Japan landscape of Thatched Village in vivid green of the Spring foliage. No fees but your donation for the preservation of this intangible cultural property is highly appreciated.

Waterfall Trekking Tour in KYOTO MIYAMA

Here is the chance to have a forest bathing and have a break in a hidden forest trekking course. This course is usually closed, but our local guide will take you to a secret trail for you.

E-bike Picnic in Kyoto Miyama

E-bikes make bicycle travel easier and more efficient! You can travel hills and mountains in Miyama farther with less effort. Also, you can enjoy picnic lunch prepared by local restaurants in Miyama. Start from Road-side Station Fratto Miyama (Kyoto-Tamba Kogen Quasi-National Park Visitor Center) and pick up your lunch box with picnic set (a basket, drinks in thermo bottle and a blanket) at the restaurant of your choice (3 options!) to enjoy outdoor lunch. Visit Miyama's thatched village (kayabuki-no-sato) and explore other scenic landscape before and/or after your lunch.
