Where the Earth Meets the Sun: Experience Kyotanabe’s Yellow Spring

There’s nothing like the feeling of being surrounded by beautiful rapeseed blossoms swaying in the spring breeze.

It’s the perfect spot to relax and recharge.

We’ve visited this place many times, and the expansive rapeseed fields never fail to amaze us!

Also, the surrounding mountains and river, along with the sound of frogs, create a refreshing natural atmosphere.

If you’re lucky, you might even catch the rapeseed and cherry blossoms blooming at the same time!

Plus, you can enjoy free rapeseed blossom picking from March 28 (Saturday) to April 5 (Sunday) this year.

(Also, the annual fall illuminations at this temple are pure magic. They’re a must-see if you’re in the area!)

While you’re here, don’t forget to swing by the nearby farmers’ market, Fugenji Fureai-no-Eki!

It’s popular with both the locals and visitors from out of town—including cyclists. (Kyotanabe is a great spot that sees a lot of cyclists!)

If you wanna level up your trip, stop by Kyotanabe Gyokuro Salon (located near JR Kyotanabe Station) before visiting the rapeseed fields.

You can enjoy an authentic tea experience (matcha or gyokuro) for 700 JPY (tax included / down from 1,000 JPY) from March 20 – April 5, and bike rentals are available, too.
