Minamiyamashiro Village is located on the borders of Kyoto, Nara, Shiga, and Mie prefectures. Dosenbo Sanso, a farmhouse inn on a plateau at an elevation of about 500 meters, cultivates blueberries mainly with organic fertilizer. Visitors can enjoy blueberry picking (around August-October), while listening to the chirping of birds and the babbling of a stream. In this area, even fireflies can be seen around July. In winter, guests can savor hot pot dishes made with wild boar meat, local vegetables, homemade miso (fermented bean paste), and natural mineral water from a local well. Other culinary delights unique to this place include sukiyaki (a traditional hot pot dish made with meat and vegetables, enjoyed with raw, beaten egg), featuring local chicken carefully raised in the abundant nature and eggs with a rich taste.
