Amanohashidate Viewland

Main content starts here.

Amanohashidate Viewland is located in the "Kyoto by the Sea" area on the side of Mt. Monju. The park has an observation deck looking out on Amanohashidate, one of the “Three Most Scenic Spots in Japan.” The view of Amanohashidate from the south is called "Hiryukan" because of its looks like a dragon ascending to the heavens when you stick your head between your legs and look at Amanohashidate upside-down.

Amanohashidate Viewland can be reached by monorail or lift and there is an amusement park which can be enjoyed by children and the elderly with activities including a Ferris wheel, go-karts, and a merry-go-round. You can also dine at the cafe or restaurant and take in spectacular views of Amanohashidate.
After lunch, take a walk on the "Hiryukan Walkway", which is 250m long and reaches a height of about 8.5m, offering an amazing 360-degree panoramic view of Amanohashidate or try the ever popular "Kawarake-nage" which is said to make your wishes come true if you can throw a ceramic disc through the circle.
In the right season you can also enjoy flowering trees such as weeping cherry blossoms, wisteria, azaleas and crape myrtle in the park.
