Maiko Tea Boutique
Maiko Tea Boutique, located in Kyotanabe City, is a popular cafe with a shop featuring tea. It’s directly managed by Maikonocha-Honpo (Maiko Tea Japan), which specializes in tea, particularly gyokuro (high quality green tea).
They offer a variety of teas for gifts and everyday enjoyment. You can even purchase Yamashita Gyokuro, winner of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award.
The cafe’s menu features a delightful selection of tea-infused sweets, meals, and drinks. You can also enjoy a set of delicious gyokuro and sweets, while learning a simple way to brew the tea. Some people are inspired to purchase a kyusu (a small teapot for Japanese tea) and some tea leaves to take home.

Kyoto Kitcho Shokado
Their Shokado boxed lunch features seasonal delicacies arranged in a lacquered wooden box.
The box is divided into four compartments, which looks like the Japanese character for rice paddy field, "田." This unique presentation was inspired by Shokado Shojo (1584-1639), a monk at Iwashimizu Hachimangu, who used a farmers’ seed box to hold small items. Yuki Teiichi, the founder of Kitcho, adapted this idea for the bento (Japanese-style boxed meal).
You can experience the amazing food culture and tradition at the renowned Japanese restaurant with a great location associated with Shokado Shojo. Take your time to enjoy the exquisite Japanese culinary delights, while immersing yourself in the serene and peaceful surroundings.
